Axe

We present this work in honor of the poet’s 70th birthday.

Carmen Boullosa

We are hatchets of steel and fire.
We live to reap and illuminate.
With the metal,
we fell the trunk.
With the flame,
we illuminate the cut,
the felling of what we are.
