from The Free Besieged

We present this work in honor of the poet’s 225th birthday.

Dionysius Solomos
Greek
1798 – 1857

The black stone and the dry grass look golden.
Through a thousand springs gushes forth, a thousand tongues say it
“Whoever dies today, he dies one thousand times”.
